Eugene Hall, 19 years of age, of 1007 I East Xinth South street, is at tho 'emergency hospital painfully aware of the futility of running when ordered to stop by a policeman. Young Hall, with a friend, Fred Sollis, was walking along .Sixth South between West Temple and First "West at 1 o'clock this morning and is said to have been .creating considerable con-siderable disturbance. Pat rolman H. Warden arrested the boys and took them onto the front porch of a residence, ! from which he was going to call the ; patrol wagon. ' Hall jumped over the porch railing j and ran profanely inviting the officer hto shoot. Warden called to him to stop, j but when he continued to run, fired two j shots into tho air and two shots at tho i fleeing Hall. One of the shots struck Hall in tho thigh. At the emergency hospital Hall was treated and found to be in no danger. Patrolman V:arden, , who joined tho force in April, went to seo his victim. And as soon as Hall saw the officer he put out his right hand and said: ''Say, officer, you gave me just what I had coming and I don't blame you at all. You won t catch me running when a cop Tells me to stop after this.'' It was the first time Iliac Warden had shot at a man he was arresting. |
