Show Piifl CONTEST FOR ' M Of. MEN Committee Decides to Offer Prize; Eligible List to ' Be Made. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, .htly ' 26.--Announrement of a contest for selection of a name that will be appropriate to the queen of Og- ; den's annual harvest festival and fashion show, to bo held in September, j was made today by the executive com- ; mittcc of the celebration. Those in charge of the celebration arrangements have also announced a new plan for the selection of a queen, it having been de- , cided to abandon tho old system of vot-1 iug by ballots costing 1 cnt each. The executive committee has decided to offer a prize of $10 for the best name for queen, the competition being open to any and all persons desiring to submit suggestions. The suggestions should be mailed to James P. L"asey, secretary of the Ogdeu publicity bureau. It is pointed out by the executive committeemen com-mitteemen that. Spokane has its Miss Spokane. Salt Lake has its' ITat-Uni-Ai and various other cities have distinctive names for their carnival kings and queens. For this reason fhey desire an appropriate name for the queen who is to preside over the annual fall festnal in this city. Within the next few weeks a committee com-mittee of business men will be appointed appoint-ed to select a list, of eligible young women wo-men for the honored position of queen. After the list has been announced all contributors to general fmid of the celebration cele-bration will be permitted to vote for a favorite candidate at the rate of fifty votes for every dollar contributed. The queen contest will not be closed until a few days prior to the relebration dates. |
