Governor William Spry presided yesterday yes-terday at a special meeting of representatives repre-sentatives of various civic organizations organiza-tions to discuss ways and means of cooperating: co-operating: with the Red Cross society in providing for the welfare of the Utah boys at the border with the national guard. Governor Spry read an appeal from former President William Howard Taft in which the latter urged cooperation co-operation with the Eed Cross as the government recognized agent in the relief re-lief work. The Red Cross should be made a sort of a clearing house for the various organizations or-ganizations that are desirous of helping the national guardsmen, said Governor Spry. Attention was called at the meeting meet-ing to the fact that local memberships mean funds for local service, for the greater part of the moneys from membership mem-bership are devoted to the needs that the local chapter finds. Tonight the third Red Cross training class will be started at the organization organiza-tion 's rooms in the charity building. Sixty young women are now enrolled in these training classes for Red Cross nurses. |
