Show LOCAL PROGRESSIVES DI5CUSSJ1SPECTS Will Probably Make No Nominations for Presidential Presi-dential Electors. Salt Lake Progressives yesterday requested re-quested the Progressive state committee commit-tee to call a meeting soon at which the plans and problems of the Progressives with reference to both national and local situations may be decided upon. The action was taken at a meeting held in Sheriff John S. Corless's oftice at the city and county building. A number of the local Progressive leaders lead-ers were present, including National Committeeman A. T. Moon. Mr. Moon set before the meeting the suggestions that have come from the Georgia and Alabama Progressives for a special convention in Cincinnati this month to fill the vacancy at the top of the Progressive national ticket. He also read the resolutions of the New York Progressives, who have decided to name no presidential electors of their own in that state, leaving the voters to choose between Hughes and Wilson. Most of those present expressed a preference to follow the plan of tho New York Progressives. However, it was decided to withhold formal action on this and other questions to the meeting which the state committee will call. The question of conventions and alliances with the other parties will probably be finally determined at that state committee meeting. Meantime informal negotiations for an alliance of Progressives with the Democrats continue, with indications tha't there will be a joint ticket in Salt Lake county if not in the state. |
