Show CHAMBERS ARRESTS POACHERS ON STATE Fish and Game Commissioner Makes Long Trip to Headwaters of Bear River to Get Offenders. Fred W. Chambers, state fish and game commissioner, and J. C Smith, deputy warden, returned yesterday to Salt Lake, thereby completing a journey jour-ney of 450 miles to tho headwaters of Bear River, where they arrested f our men on a charge of deer killing. The trip was made by automobile. Of the four arrested, Dick Zufelt admitted having killed a deer. He, with his three companions, J . JI. and Owen Zufelt and James Martin, were all taken from where they were found by Commissioner t !h ambers and Deputy j Smith, on the East fork of Smith 's fork, to Coalville. There they were ar- I raigned before Precinct J ustice J ake Peterson. ! All were permitted to go on their own recognizance except Dick -Zufelt, from whom a cash bond of $110 was required. re-quired. Assistance in locating the alleged al-leged poachers was rendered the commissioner com-missioner and his deputy by members of a forestry survey ing party, headed by Forester K. A. Watts. Three of the men protested that they had nothing to do with the killing of the deer, confessed by Dick Zufelt, though they admitted having helped to eat the meat of the animal, according to Commissioner ( 'ham hers. |
