Show OPENED 3 MIL Bingham-Tooele Bore in 853 Feet Believed to Be Near Contact. With much better progress being made by the miners, with the rook in a shattered condition and spurting water, wa-ter, which is evidently under considerable consider-able pressure, the local officials are taking a decidedly optimistic view of the work under way on the Bingham-Tooele Bingham-Tooele property, located in Middle can-vou can-vou and adjoining the property of the Utah Metal & Tunnel company. The tunnel ia now in a distance of 8o3 feet and lias attaiued a depth of about 5UU feet on the vertical from the surface. M. T. Awoki, the engineer in charge of tho work, writing from the property, says that since July 3 the water ueing encountered causes a aark green precipitate pre-cipitate to form on the metallic portion por-tion of the shovels and steel. This precipitate pre-cipitate will be analyzed to determine what it contains. The objective of the present tunnel is to reach the point where the contact between the limestone lime-stone and the quartzite formation is intersected by the large porphyry dike along which the tunnel is being driven. It is believed that at that point ore iu paving quantities will be discovered. Fho property, consisting of more than 200 acres of ground, has been surveyed for patent and the application has been made to tlie government. It is the intention in-tention of the company to continue the tunnel for a distance of approximately 2000 feet and the surveys snow that a denth of between 1500 and 2000 feet will be attained in various portions of the bore. In order to facilitate the work plans are tinder way to utilize the flow of water that is being delivered at the portal of the tunnel and to install power drills.
