Breathed has been working with the Crim-! Crim-! son football men for more than three j weeks now, and it was decided long ago that he wolud be given the position. No other important matters were taken up hy the board yesterday, the selection of a business assistant being postponed I until a later date. The business assistant assist-ant win be paid a salary and will handle han-dle in connection with his other duties the work formerly left in the hands of the athletic manager. Under the new plan of athletic control which goes Into effect this fall for the first time, there will be no athletic manager in the sense that the term has been applied previously. Less than two weeks of practice remain re-main before the Crimson opens its season sea-son with Wyoming here on October 9. and in the meantime the alumni team must be met. This will call for the hardest hard-est kfnd of work from now on, and it is probable that every man on the squad will be used before the season la over. Following the Wyoming game the "U" team will meet fouij of the hardest elevens elev-ens In the conference the Colorado Aggies. Ag-gies. Colorado Mines. Colorado "U" and Colorado college one each succeeding Saturday, Sat-urday, in the order named. This means that injured warriors will have little time to, heal their wounds before rushing Into the fray again. The schedule is admitted to be the heaviest one the local school has had to face for many years. The Utah-Aggie game will be played In Logan on Thanksgiving day. and this will be the final contest of the season, unless the team takes the proposed trip to southern California. It Is possible that a game will be arranged for November 18. An attempt Is now being made to bring together a hunch of the former Crimson stars for the alumni game next Saturday. Following are some of those it is hopea to have in the lineup: Norm Hamilton, Tommy Fitzpatrick. Lon Romney, Wid Ashton, Pinky Summer, "Tfllie" Oleson, Dave Oleson, Hughle Williams, Bish Watson Wat-son and Lorin Briggs. |
