Show OFFICIALS REACH BREAST OF ALBION Discover Copper Ore Making Mak-ing in the Limestone Beds and Open Fissure. After an inspection of the breast of the Albion crosscut, General Manager George H. Watson and Superintendent Sol Snyder Sny-der informed the local oftciala yesterday that the breast shows copper ore making In tlxe beds of limestone and an open fissure fis-sure from which is pouring a heavy flow of water carrying sulplildeB. They succeeded suc-ceeded In working their way to the breast by removing enough muck from near the roof to allow them to crawl in over the large pile. The air line has been installed and is delivering air to the breast of the crosscut. cross-cut. That work was completed yesterday yester-day morning, and shortly afterward General Gen-eral Manager Watson and Superintendent Snyder made the inspection. It is expected ex-pected that the large muck pile will be removed In a day or so and the work of timbering will be started. Inasmuch as the last round of holes drilled by the miners was in a breast of porphyry, there is a considerable portion of that material mixed throughout the ore. When the round was blasted , the blasting, together with the immense flow of water that was encountered, evidently caved down a portion of the ore body, as the mine officials report a large opening above the crosscut. It will be necessary to timber the workings work-ings before any more drilling is done, as the breast shows that the country lying ahead is In a broken-up condition ana what is termed by miners "heavy ground." Along the floor of the crosscut there has been precipitated by the water a heavy concentrate that extends for a considerable distance from the breast. This is being saved for shipment. Samples of the ore containing chalco-pyrite, chalco-pyrite, bornite and other forms of copper mineral were on exhibition In the offices of the various brokerage houses at the local exchange yesterday. |
