Show ME MEN VISIT PROPERTIES II ALIA Predicting that the amount of development develop-ment work now being carried on in the Little Cottonwood district will result soon In the discovery of important ore bodies, and enthusiastic regarding the activity seen on all Bides In the district, A. F. Palm has returned from a trip of inspection inspec-tion to that camp. Mr. Palm visited the South Hecla mine, the Sells and the Columbus Co-lumbus Extension properties. He was one of a party that visited the district Sunday, among whom were Paul Wool-ley, Wool-ley, H. W, Cram, Frarik Jenkinson, C. H. Jenkinson and Horace A. Johnson of Winona, Minn. ; The party was taken through the South Hecla mine by President George H. Watson and shown the large ore body from which that company Is sending out dally shipments. They also inspected the work being done on the leased ground. From both sections there is being shipped daily in the neighborhood of eighty tons of ore. After visiting the South Hecla workings the party inspected the recent strike on the Sells ground and went up to the top of the No. 1 raise off the northwest drift. There they found an ore body measuring about four feet In the roof of the raise and apparently getting larger as the work of developing it Is pushed ahead. The ore body is apparently making out along the bedding planes in the limestone. lime-stone. Mr. Palm also saw the other workings, where Beams of ore are being followed. At the Columbus Extension property they were taken through the long tunnel passing the big deposit of low-grade copper cop-per ore which the company left standing after driving through it. Mr. Palm climbed to near the top of the raise being be-ing driven on what Is believed to be the old Toledo Assure. He saw six inches of high-grade ore at about the seventy-foot point In the raise and about one foot of the same material in the roof of the raise. The raise has recently encountered the soluble limestone formation where the six-inch ore body widened to a foot. At that point a drift Is being driven along the ore body, which ie apparently growing grow-ing wider as the drift progresses. The party was conducted through the workings work-ings by Superintendent Henry Barney. |
