One hundred and fori y-f our workless mombors of "General" Kclley's lato "army" jumped ofT a fruit train at 10:30 this morning, held a convention in the railroad yards and delivered an ultimatum to Sheriff Charles Schradcr, demanding that (hoy bo fed and allowed al-lowed to stay, The sheriff, backed up by Chief of Police Charles Wallis. Mayor C. E. Chcrrington, five Denver fc Rio Grando railroad special agents, and sevonty-fivo citizens, told them to hop back into the cars and roccivo rations, ra-tions, or stay horc and starve. Aft or a short parley they climbed back into tho cars aud received 100 loaves of bread and fifty pounds of bologna sausage, sau-sage, which thoy ate on tho way to Gleuwood Springs, their next, stop, The men aro riding in four cars contributed contrib-uted by tho railroad. Thoy aro allowed al-lowed to loavo the cars but a short time at each station. A railroad detective de-tective accompanies them. At Glenwood Springs, the train was stopped at a bridgo this sido of tho town for water, and tho men were told thoy would be fed in Glenwood. A mighty cheer went up. When the locomotives lo-comotives got water the train was rushed through Glenwood without stopping stop-ping and with the car doors locked. LOS ANGELES, Cal , April S. Frank Tvelly, a "captain" commanding command-ing a band of unemployed recruited here with the original intention of joiniug "General"' Charles Kelley's army at Sacramento, was found guilty today of having violated a city ordl nanco in camping his force on tho dry bed of Los Angeles river.
