Show LABORER MURDERED Bf 101YFARERS Skull of Joe LaBella Horribly Crushed by Blows From Clubs. Special to The Tribune. PKOVO, April S. Joe LaBella, a caretaker of property for the Reynolds-JSly Reynolds-JSly Construction company, was murdered mur-dered this afternoon near tho Denver & Iiio Grande railroad track at a point about two miles west of Tucker by two men with whom he had an altercation, alter-cation, and who crushed his skull with a club. According to tho story of tho Mexican Mexi-can trackwalker, he passed LaBella as he came down tho track in the afternoon. after-noon. A little later ho happened to look back and saw two men gesticulating gesticu-lating with LaBella. Almost iinmedi-atcry iinmedi-atcry afterward tho two strangers attacked at-tacked LaBella with clubs. Becoming alarmed, tho Mexican walked farther away to tho ranch of William Williams, who accompanied him back to the scone of tho trouble. The two men found LaBolla still breathing, but ho died in a brief time, His skull was horribly crushed and a club, smeared with blood, waa lying near by. Williams got an alarm abroad as soon as possible and all availablo ofiicora were soon on the man hunt. Telephone communication with Provo was had and Deputy Sheriff J.. G. Williams, accompanied by, County Attorney At-torney Grant C. Baglcy, went up from hero to Tucker, bringing the body of LaBella back to Provo tonight. A description of the two men who attacked LaBolla was obtained from the Mexican trackwalker, who spoke through an interpreter, and this was sent out east and woPt along the railroad rail-road line. Tonight Sheriff .East waa notified that Constable J. W. Huff at Thistle had arrested two men there who seemed to lit thei description. The meager description secured was that one of tho murderors was about six feet tall and wore a black coat and hat, and thut the other was about five feet six inches tail and wore a yellowish yellow-ish coat with brown spots and a striped or checkered hut. Sheriff East will go to Thistlo .and bring tho men back to Provo, provided they meet the description given by tho Mexican trackwalker.- In fact all stragglers aro boing taken In by the oflicers as a matter of precaution in tho hopo of preventing possiblo escape of the murderers. |
