Show HOTEL KEEPER TO GET PUBLIC HEARING City Attorney Rules That Rooming' House License Cannot Otherwise Other-wise Be Revoked. Tho city attorney having given it as his opinion that the commission has no right whatever to revoke a rooming house liconse without a public hearing, the city commission yesterday rescinded its recent action revoking the license of Mrs. Mellor, proprietor of tho La Moll hotel, and sot Tuesday, September Septem-ber 1G, as the date for a public hearing on tho license aforesaid. On complaint of tho chief of police, who informed tho commission that tho La Mell was a common nuisance and that tho proprietress had frequently broken the liquor law and had Tien convicted several times, the commission ordered her license recalled about two weeks ago. Acting for the police department, Moroni Gillespie is now suing in tho district court for a restraining order against Mrs. Mollor, preventing her from conducting the hotel on the ground, that it iB a common nuisance. The action Is now pending, though a tomporary restraining order is in force. |
