Show TEN IJIiJS ON WAV TO 6. 1 1 HI Party to Annual Encampment . at Chattanooga Grows Smaller Each Year. . Utah win be represented at the annual encampment of tho Grand Army of the P.cpubllnc and affiliated organizations at Chattanooga, Tcnn.. September lfi to 2J, by ten persons, five of them being old soldiers. The party left Salt Luke at ':25 o'clock yesterday afternoon. It was composed of H. P. Bums, Ellas Price and William L. Goodsoll of Salt Lake: II. C. Wardlelgh. past senior department commander com-mander of Utah, and John V. Nelson of Ogdun: Mrs. Mary R. Laccy, past president presi-dent of the National Association of Army Nurses; Mrs. Joanna Melton. Mrs. 1J. P. Iiurns, Mrs. Ellas Price and Mrs. A. U. Lawrence, all of Salt Lake. Tho principal reason ascribed for the small attendance from Utah is the fact that so many veterans attended the recent re-cent celebration of the battle of 'Gettysburg 'Gettys-burg at Gettysburg P.v, and were Indisposed Indis-posed to take a second trip so soon after their visit to the famous battlefield Then, too, most of the veterans are very feeble and few felt physically able to stand tho long journey. Each year the Utah delegation to the national encampment encamp-ment Is smaller than the previous year, and those who left yesterday -feel that this may be their last reunion trip. Judging by literature sent out by the Chattanooga Encampment association, the encampment this year -will be a most eventful one. Owing to the fact that the encampment Is the llrst to be held in the real south, they urc making vast preparations to show the veterans a good time. Among the fea Hires planned are isham battles, aoroplana flights, steamboat steam-boat excursions, fireworks, a railroad collision col-lision and a pilgrimage to tho famous battlefield. |
