Show PETTINGILL WINS TENNIS AT BOISE Special to The Tribune. BOISE, Idaho, Sept. 10. In one of tho most spectacular tennis matches seen within tho state of Idaho, Ben Q. Pet-tlnglll Pet-tlnglll of this city, runner up in men's singles in the Idaho State Tennis tournament, tourna-ment, today won from A. B. Eaton of Mountain Home, holder of tho trophy cup In men's singles, which he won over Pet-tlnglll Pet-tlnglll at a former tournament. The score: 1-6, 8-6, 3-7, 1-6, U-9. Four of the five sets were played off last night and the contestants were in the fifth set, with Pettlngill leading 4-2. when the contest was called on account of darkness. At 5 o'clock this evening they met to play off the last and final set. Eaton quickly ran the games up to 4-all and took his third straight game, making the set stand 5-4. Pettlngill was able to win tho next game and the set went to a deuce. Then followed an exciting ex-citing finlBh, with the result always in doubt and featured by smashing tennis, punctuated with hard drives, until Pettlngill Pet-tlngill finally won. |
