Show OLD PIOCHE CAMP stk its MiT Not in Years Has District Been So Busy and Happy as It Is Now. OUTPUT IS GROWING jjj Virginia-Louise Making Plans to Produce Upon Generous j Tonnage Scale. Tliat the whole Pioche district Is I busier and more proseprous than It has I been for ten or twelve years, and that j the people of the district are almost too occupied with developing new mineral ) wealth and accumulating genorous returns a from ore shipments to even pause and ft congratulate themselves, arc statements 11 made to The Tribune on Wednesday by Sj H. W. Tland, a prominent citizen of Port- I.. land, Or., who is operating In that sec- R Hon of Nevada. Mr Band passed through K Salt Liiito City yesterday, accompanied U by E. O. Arattcrn. also of Portland, these y two being associated in the ownership IJ and operation of southern Nevada mln- fi lng properties. ti One nrnnnrtv xvlfh whlnh thnen lln. men are associated In a substantial capacity ca-pacity is the Virglnla-Doulse, and their visit to this city was for the purpose of starting negotiations through which the Prince Consolidated railroad tracks will be extended to this mine and by which a smelter conLract may bo secured se-cured for the treatment of the developed tonnages. The Vlrglnla-Loulsc adjoins the Prince Consolidated property and It holds a continuation of the same ore bodies, the ores being of practically the same character. Big Tonnage Assured. Mr. Hand states that of the manganese ore, so called, there are now developed de-veloped between 300,000 and 400,000 tons, the general average value of which is 35 per cent excess iron, three ounces silver to the ton' and S per cent lead. It Is practically such ore which the Prince Consolidated company has been producing produc-ing on a wholesale basis for many months past. There Is in addition on thiB property the system of rich fissures whose high-grade ores are as good as any that reaches the ore markets anywhere any-where and which Is forwarded to the smelters Independently cf the lorrer-grade lorrer-grade material. The Vlrsrinla-'Loulse has been developed by shaft, drifts and crosscuts to the 460-foot 460-foot level and the officials are certain that the tonnage now assured is nothing more than an index to what can be brought to view upon further development develop-ment effort. "With the railroad tracks at the Virginia-Louise bins and the company in possession of a smelting contract, con-tract, another substantial producer and profit maker for Pioche Is assured. Gold Chief Paying. These same gentlemen are operating a gold property near Caliente, known as the Gold Chief. The ore occurs within solid and ponnanent walls and averages twenty feet in thickness. This ore runs about 5 per ton in gold, and the company com-pany has a forty-ton cyanide mill in operation, rescuing net $2 of yellow metal to the ton. The capaolty of the plant will bo increased In the spring and the development work is being kept well ahead of production. Mr. Hand said: One of the best propositions of the camp is the Prince Consolidated, which keeps shipping a steady tonnage ton-nage of high-grade manganese ores. The Mendha Is another proposition i that is malclng a splendid showing, while throughotit the district are sov-eral sov-eral leasing enterprises which are doing flrst-class work. The old slag and tailings dumps of the camp are being forwarded to market In many instances at a first-rate profit. Bristol Properties. The Amalgamated Pioche company is doing good work and Installing equipment which will materially Increase In-crease Us all-around efficiency. A. Y. Smith and associates have a lease on 3000 feet of the richest portion of one of the most famous dikes In Nevada, property that has produced millions in the past, and they unquestionably unques-tionably will make a good-sized fortune for-tune out of their operations. In the Bristol district, the Day-Bristol Day-Bristol Consolidated company is to install a tramway which will reduce the cost of ore transportation by Si to 55 per ton, and this company is the fortunate possessor of large tonnages ton-nages of high-grade ores. Adjoining It Is the Home Run Copper property, which, In my opinion, is destined to make as good and profitable a production pro-duction ns the Day-Bristol property Itself. The "Home Hun ores occur In generous bodies and of a splendid shipping grade. Pioche is on the way without any question to a proper realization of its tremendous; resources, and It will be one of the greatest cumps In the west. |
