Show BUTTON SALES SI PLESS1G BOOSTERS With Campaign Only Begun, 18,000 "I Am for Utah" Buttons Are Out. The report, which was rendered by Wesley King, chairman, outlined the plans on which the button campaign will bo waged in addition to tolling of tho work already accomplished along that line. Of tho 25,000 "I Am for Utah" buttons received, n cording to tho report, 18,000 havo been issued to persons or organizations organiza-tions to be sold and the campaign has only started. U is impossible to toll how many havo actually been Hold, but the reports re-ports arc all encouraging both from different dif-ferent parts of Salt Jako City and from all over the state. The plans include the sending of a formal for-mal letter to President Joseph F. Smith of tho Mormon church, asking that his approval of tho button campaign be communicated com-municated to tho presidents or stakes, bishops of wards and ofllccrs of the Y, M. M. I A., Y. L,. M. I. A. and the Sundnv schools of the church. Lctlcrs will also be sent to each secret and literary society so-ciety of the University of Utah. All newspaper news-paper editors of the state will be asked 10 run uispiay auverusenicnts, press notices no-tices and news stores as has been dono by the newspapers of Salt I-akc City. Letters were also approved to be sent to each Commercial club of tho state and to every auxiliary society of the various churches of the state. In the letters to bo soul: reference Is given to any minister min-ister or church official of Salt lako City and an appeal has been directed to thorn In the matter. The approval also included letters to every secret nnd fraternal order of tho stale and direct application made .to all of tho commercial and business associations associa-tions and social clubs of tho state. Merchants Mer-chants will be allowed to handle tho buttons but-tons and a committee composed of Charles Tyng, chairman; D. S. Spcncor and W. It. Wallace, was appointed to arrange so that the school children might be allowed to sell tho buttons. George S. Auerbach was elected a mom-her mom-her of the governing board of the publicity bureau. "Wo expect to sell 100,000 buttons." said Wesley Ivlng, chairman of tho committee, yeslorday, "and that Is Just about 0110 to cvory four persons. Many will buy several of the buttons and many who are going through the state will buy them, so that tho Uusk does not seem llko a gigantic one. I think tho buttons will all be sold by January 1, 1014, and that wo shall not have sufficient to satisfy the demand." |
