Show FRUIT HARVEST IS ON, Many Men and Women Are Busy at Pleasant Grove Packing Houses, Special to The Tribune. PLEASANT GROVE. Sept. 10. There are nbout Ihlrly-flve young women employed em-ployed daily at the two fruit packing houses wrapping fruit and putting it In cases, while more than half as many men are busy with the heavier work. Pleasant Grove supplied the Utah fruit exchange with the first car of pears marketed mar-keted by it this year The car was sold at Minneapolis for little more than $1000. At the Pleasant Grovo Fruitgrowers association as-sociation the shipment of peaches has begun, be-gun, the first half car going out Thursday Thurs-day and from then on averaging more than a car a day, not reaching the maximum max-imum until some time next week. At the William M. Roylance plant the peaches also commenced coming in this week and have already reached a total of nearly two cars per day. The Utah Fruitgrowers Fruit-growers association is also commencing to load cars of Elberta peaches. Besides this, both local companies are also loading load-ing pears yet, and almost a car per day of Italian prunes. |
