GREAT ATHLETIC RECORDS MADE IN CHICAGO MEET CHICAGO. Aug. 28. World's records were broken here today before a crowd of S000 spectators, who attended the second sec-ond annual track and field meet of tho Chicago Irish-American Athletic club, In which the Chicago Athletic association won tho silver trophy for llrst place, with 41 points. Matt McGrath of the New York Athletic Athle-tic club set a now mark for tho 5C-pound weight throw for height, tossing tho weight 16 feot CJ Inches, heating tho old world's record held by Mitchell of tho New York Irish-American Athletic club. Martin Shorldan of the New York Irish-Americans fell two feet short of his own record In the discus throw, making mak-ing only 140 feet I inch. In the 50-pound weight throw in the seven-foot circle, a special card for Martin Mar-tin Sheridan, .John Flanagan, tho New York pollccman-athlcto. and Matt McGrath, Mc-Grath, Flanagan made 39 feet 7 Inches, beating his own record of 3S feet 8 Inches. The ovent docs not constitute a record, being merely an exhibition throw.
