Show MRS. JAMES MAXWELL arms from burns She Was Cleaning Clothes With Gasoline at the Time; Fire in Y. M. C. A. Cafe. 'Mrs. .Tames Maxwell of 263 West First South street is suffering from burus on her hands and face which woro received Wednesday morning while she was in tho act of cleaning somo clothing with gasoline, which became be-came ignited when sho poured boiling water into tho pau in which she had the gasoline. 3-. Maxwell took tho pan of burn-mg burn-mg nuid and ran to the .yard in tho rear of her home. Some of the burning oil was spilled on the floor and a rug took fire. A call was sent for the fire department de-partment and the apparatus from station sta-tion 3 responded. The destroyed rug was all the damage done other than Mrs. Maxwell's burns. The firo occurred about 11 o'clock. An overheated gas stove in tho kitchen of the Y. MY C. A. cafe shortly beforo noon set fire lo the surrounding woodwork. A chemical from the cen tral fire station was brought to tho cafe and tho fire was soon out. with slight damage. Attendants in the cafe wore given a bad fright, and the Bmokc from tho fire drove the persons in the dining room at the time out of the place. |
