At a recent meeting of the exccutlvo officials of vestorn railroads virtually all the roads nnnounced their intention of adopting the new uniform bill of lndlng. Eastern roads will make tho bill effective November 1, but the western roads probably prob-ably will be unable to do so until December Decem-ber 1. The western roads also decided to permit per-mit shippers to use temporarily the old bills of lading they have In stock with the understanding that the shipment is made subject to tiie terms of the uniform blP of lading.
