Show GRAFTER WORKS UNDER GUISE OF POLITICIAN CHICAGO, Oct. 23. Tho following statement, signed by William Hayward, secretary, and F. W. Upham, assistaut treasurer of tho Republican national committee, was given out at Republican headquarters today: "We arc informed that a person of tho name of J. M. Bennington, of the state of Washington, is representing riIrii-iiI"I,i"Ii"I"i""IIlI"l",iiI"i,-rii 5 himself as an agent of the Republican' Republi-can' national committee for the purpose of soliciting campaign funds, and haa written letters soliciting contributions. The Republican national committeo has , no connection with Mr. Bennington; ho is not a member of our committee, never has been, and has no authority to solicit any funds whatever for thla cqmmittec.r" Mr. Hayward said, in giving out the statement, that a number of Bennington's Benning-ton's letters had been forwarded to the national headquarters. |
