Trade In tho wheat pit today lacked the activity which characterized char-acterized yesterday's session, and sentiment senti-ment during the greater part of the day was bearish. At the opening prices were lo to 3c lower than the previous close, and after fluctuating over a range of barely Jc throughout the day they wore at tho close almost at tho exact point whore they wcro when trading began. Tho Argentina situation was a puzzle to local traders, and news from that country was conflicting. One report claimed that the damage to the wheat crop by frost covered an area of f7,000.- 000 acres, or about 25 per cent of the total to-tal wheat urea of the country. Tho extent ex-tent of the damage, however, .was not stated. Other dispatches placed the Injury In-jury all the way from 5 to 20 per cent of the total crop. More rain was reported In sections of tho Southwest, and although some reports were received stating that tho new sown crop In many places still lacked sufficient moisture for proper growth, the majority of traders hero wore Inclined lo be bears.
