Show YONKERS GETS EEADY. Jockey Olub Fixing Up tho Track for" One Month's Racing. Tribune Special Sporting Service. NEW YORK. July 20. It is prtty well settled that, a season of racing will be held at tho Empire Trotting club's track at Yonknrs next month, notwithstanding tho hesitation of tho Jockey club In awarding dates. The club haa received a liconso from tho Stato Racing Board and preparations for a month's sport nro hi progress. Many improvements will bo made at the track. In fact, the work Is already far advanced. A flold stand will be erected close to the grandstand grand-stand toward tho head of tho stretch. This stand will accomodate about 7000 people. There will also bo additional stable room. People who usually guess correctly what happens at the conferences confer-ences of the Jockey club do noL bollcvo that tho Empire track will be granted dates at this time. Thoy point to tho fact that the regular nchedule cannot bo Interfered with. Next year, pay these people, tho Emplro track will be looked after. To give thlH track dates it will bo nocessary to take a few days away from each olub. or the Saratoga mooting moot-ing may bo cut down to about fifteen days. This appears to bo the better way out of it. |
