With many awful quacks they dashed for shelter when tho first pelts touched their fluffy backs. One, attracted by the glittering globules, swallowed one. Its example was followed fol-lowed by others. A few minutes later tho original devouror fell over stiff and cold. One by ono the ducklings dropped drop-ped and the driving hail pelted their soft littlo bodies. When Lawrence camo to tho rescue he found them all frozen as thoroughly as if they had been in cold Btorage. |
