Hardly a racing season sea-son passes, It Is pointed out, that one or moro Jockeys are not killed or rendered tinflt for tho saddle by reason of an accident ac-cident In a race. Brighton's meeting has always been fruitful of accidents caused by the heretofore narrow tuni3. It was at Brighton last year that a little Jockey was killed outright under the eyes of thousands of spectators, but It Is to bo hoped that racegoers will be spared that sight again, for Manager Christopher Fltzgernld has caused the dangerous turn to bo widened, and It's abruptness disposed dis-posed of. Miller, Ttadtke, Koerner. C. Miller. Garner and several steeplechase Jockeys have received bad falls during tho present season, but with tho exception excep-tion of ono steeplechase rider, who Is yet In the hospital nt Coney Island suffering from a broken arm and a broken collarbone, collar-bone, all are again back in the saddle. |
