Show POLICE IE LOOKING FOR H, PRUESSING He Conies to Town, Passes Bud Checks and Goes Right Out Again. A man signing the name of H. Pru-essing, Pru-essing, supposed to be a Dutchman, is wanted by tho authorities for issuing and passing fictitious checks. Pruos-sing Pruos-sing camo hero from no one appoars to know whero two or three days ago, and Saturday succeeded in passing a cheek thnt ho made all bj- himself for $24 upon tho Nickel-Plate restaurant. Ho also attempted to pass a similar check, worth only tho pnpor it was written on, with a saloon-keeper in the neighborhood of the restaurant, tint hn railed. Detectivo Chaso of tho locul police department has been put upon Pruessiug's trail. Pruessing ate several times in his short, stay here at the restaurant above named. Saturday morning he presented present-ed a check to the mauagoment of the restaurant, with a request that it bo cashed for him. The management declined, de-clined, but advanced him $5 about 9 o'clock Saturday morning upon tho check. About 5 o'clock in tho afternoon after-noon Pruessing returned and got tho remainder of the $24 on the check. Directly after Pruessing had taken his doparture with the $21 for a worthless worth-less bit of paper, tho saloon-keeper montioued camo in and "put the restaurant res-taurant wi'bo" to Pruessing, telling that tho latte'r had been his place of business, busi-ness, asking hnn to cash a similar check. The saloon-keeper didn't like the looks of the check, and thorcby paved $21. Some of the persons connected con-nected with the bank upon which tho check was drawn, tho Commercial National, Na-tional, happened to be in the rcsi.nii rant at that time, and sot all doubts at rest as to the flctir.iousness of the checks. Then the police were notified. The check is upon blue paper and purports to be drawn in favor of H. Pruessing by tho Superior Baking company, com-pany, per T. H. Swanson. On tho back of tho check is indorsed "H. Pruessing," Prues-sing," in handwriting wonderfully like that on tho face. The indications aro that "Pruessing" has left town. |
