The latest phaso In tho bounty steal -was brought to light late last evening, i -when Will Phillips, a cousin of cx-Dcputy County Clork D. B. Davlcs, was arrested i for complicity In tho frauds, and placed in tho county Jail. Through tho arrest of Phillips Sheriff Emery thinks ho has obtained tho man who worked with Davlcs to defraud tho county. It Is already al-ready pretty well established, he says, that tho two worked tho blank certificate racket. I Issued Bogus Certificate. According to Information which tho officers havo secured, Davlcs was In the habit of Issuing certificates for hides which were novor offered. Thcso certificates certifi-cates were turned over to his cousin, Phillips, who presented them to the State Auditor and received warrants for tho amount due, Davlcs has all along contended con-tended that ho was an Innocent victim of the real bounty thlovcs, but the officers xpect to provo complete collusion. A complaint charging Phillips with obtaining ob-taining money under false pretenses will bo filed today by the County Attorney. He was taken beforo Judgo DIehl last night and his bond was placed at $2500, In default of which Phlfllps now occupies a cell at the county Jail, Phillips ha3 for somo timo been employed em-ployed as collector for tho Magazine Printing company, and Is well known about town.
