Show JUDGE TAYLER ON THE BENCH. On Saturday last, Judgo Robert Walker Tayler was sworn In as Judge of the U. S. District Court for the northern district of Ohio, succeeding Judge P. J. Wing, resigned, and yesterday yes-terday he opened his first term of court. Judgo Tayler is Jn the primo of life and vigor; ho was born in Youngstown, Ohio, November 26, lS52t so that he Is just past his fifty-second year. He is a man of ripe experlcnco In publc affairs, af-fairs, and of extraordinary ability. He was graduated from tho Westorn Reserve Re-serve collego In his twentieth year, and soon made his mark as a useful and popular citizen. Ho held a number of local offices, and In 1894 was elected to Congress, serving in the House for four terms. He was chairman of the special spe-cial committee on the case of Brlgham IT. Roberto, and was Influential In deciding de-ciding it. He has been tho leading counsel for the protestants In tho proceedings against Senator Smoot, and has performed per-formed tho duties Involved therein with an activity, falthfulnesB, acumen, and thorough understanding which has won for him the unreserved confidence ond the warm and special admiration of all who have had to do with the matter. He has not spared himself In time or attention, but has met every call with a zyal and effect that cause him to be held close In the affections of every true citizen. Wo extend to Judge Tayler the hearty thanks of tho loyal people of Utah, for his great work In this case; they will follow his career., on the bench with a high confidence and admiration ad-miration that take for granted his deserving de-serving of all the good things that may be hoped or said of him, Long may he live, to pursue his high career of honor and usefulness.
