Show Electrocuted While TakinHis Bath Hailroad Engineer Meets Death in a Peculiar Manner in His Home. William H. Tallman, an engineer in tho employ of the Colorado & Southern railroad, rail-road, was electrocuted while taking a bath last night and died In less than ten mlnutcc, Eays the Denver News of Sunday. Sun-day. Tho accident happened at the home of Mrs. Sarah Jackson, 2239 West Twenty-eighth Twenty-eighth avenue, nt 6:30 o'clock. Tallman boarded with Mrs. Jackson somo time ago when tho latter resided at another address, but haa not roomed at her houso since sho moved. Yesterday, however, he decided that ho would again take rooms at the Jackson house and called there in tho aftcrnon and arranged to havo his trunk brought to tho houso tho next day. While thorc he went Into tho bathroom to bathe. Ho filled tho bath tub with water, und, stepping Into It, reached for an electric elec-tric bulb to turn on the light The tub in which he was standing was of copper, cop-per, and as ho grasped tho olectrlc bulb In hlg hand he received tho shock which killed him. Mrs Jackson, who was down stairs, heard some ono screaming, but. at first could not locale tho sound. At last she Went to the bathroom and called Tallman. On receiving no answer she opened the door and there beheld the man standing up In tho tub. writhing In agony. Sho succeeded In turning on! tho current cur-rent nnd thon rim for Dr James E. Gee, Z700 Forest street. The latter hurried to tho house, but when he reached there Tallman was beyond medical nld. Upon examination it was found that one hand and both feet of the dead man wero burned burn-ed almost toia crisp. According to the physician Tallman muot have received In tho neighborhood of 1600 volts of .electricity. This voltago was due to tho fact that his body was In contact with the copper of tho bath tub. which was filled with water, when he took hold of tho olectrlc light. Tallman has no relatives In this city, but has a father, J. B. Tallman, living In Centervlllo, Kan The body Is now in charge of tho Coroner, who will mako an Investigation with regard to the condition of the electric bulb. |
