Whon the question of admitting Arizona ns a Stato camo up In tho Senato today, Senator Kearns was recognized by tho chairman, and offered his amendment, tho details of which havo appeared in Tho Tribune, which has for Its object the cession of the Arizona strip to tho State of Utah. Senator Kearns spoko at some length upon his amendment, and, pointing to tho hugo map which hung on tho wall, traced tho Colorado river as It ran between be-tween Utah and Arizona, explained the character of tho country, and dwolt at somo length upon , tho legal aspects of tho case. What He Demonstrated. Ho demonstrated tho great troublo and expenso the legal officers of Utah wero put to ln serving legal processes upon tho criminals who sought protection within this atrip. Ho referred to tho area, and pointed out tho comparatively few peoplo affectod and said they wcro mostly business mon wheso interests wero within tho Stato of Utah. Ho pleaded with tho Senato to pass tho amendmont, which, ho said, vculd put this land whero nature intended in-tended It. Sonator Beverldgo was recognlxod and ably seconded what Senator Kearns hud said. Ho hoped tho omor.dracnt would bocomo a law.
