Show RcChesney lay Return k Fori' Famous Sorrel That Has Been Such a Disappointment May Como Back Again. NEW YORK, Nov. 19. McChosney has gone back to the South, and the chances are that he will never be seen In these parts again. Throughout, the long Eastern season ho tried to win a race, but without success. Every known means was tried by E. E. Smathcrs, but all to no purpose. Sam Hlldreth, the man who developed him. was brought here from Chicago, but was as unsuc cessful as was Frank Taylor In an effort to get the big horse In winning form. According to some turf writers the son of Macduff retires In disgrace, but such criticism Is as unjust no it is unkind. un-kind. If he was beaten this year, ao was the famous Waterboy, and If Hng-gln's Hng-gln's black had a bnd ankle for an excuse, ex-cuse, McChesney had a sore foot. It must be remembered that McChesney defeated all the good horses in the East a year ago excepting Waterboy, who dodged the Issue, It can scarcely be forgotten that the Smathcrs horse made a track record at Sheephead Bay for a mile and a quarter which still stands. It was evident to all the admirers of McChesney that at no time this year was he in his old form. That bounding stride which so often carried' him to victory vic-tory gave place to a choppy gait, which brought only defeat. The horse looked well and when not In action seemed at his best, hut when sent out to gallop he was no more like McChesney than day Is like night. That his foot troubled him was apparent ap-parent to nil trainers. On several occasions oc-casions ho pulled up lame, and at one time stood on three, legs for nearly a week.
