Show Fay Wagon Circus Mobbed of Elf Sum Thirty Thousand Dollars Stolen From J-Forepaugh and Sells Show in South Carolina. NORFOLK. Va., Nov. 19. The pay wagon wa-gon pf Forepaugh and Sells Brothers" circus wos robbed of $30,000 today at Tarbora, S. C. Every effort Is being mado by tho circus people and tho au-thorlties au-thorlties of tho town to apprehend the robbers and several arrests havo been made, but no trace of tho money has yet Lccn found. Stolen While In Transit. The circus played in Greenvlllo yesterday yester-day and arrived In Tarboro this morning oc-r tUo Atlantic Coast line. The nay wagon had been broken Into and robbed during transit, or shortly after 5 o'clock in tho morning, and efforts wore at once taken to capture tho thieves. Evory man connected with the show was searched, ond put under surveillance. Several were looked upon with suspicion, some of whom have been released. No Clue to Robbers. Police Chief Walter Johnson of Tarboro Tar-boro tonight said. "We havo no cluo to the robbers, but suspect tho deed was dono by peoplo connected with tho show, who were familiar with the mannor in which the cash -was 1 handled, who had completed their plans boforo undertaking to get tho money." |
