De La Mar, formerly an extensive mine-owner In this State, nnd who ly well known throughout the country coun-try for his successful mining invest-menU', invest-menU', has decided to dispose of his palatial pa-latial New York home, which has but recently been completed and furnished. Referring to the order to dlypose of the beautiful residence, a New York paper says: "Joseph De La Mar, known to two continents as "the modern Monte Crlsto," has ordered sold the $1,000,000 mansion which he had built for him at Thirty-seventh street and Madison avenue and which he has never seen. De La Mar once was a diver. He married mar-ried the most beautiful woman in the United States. She was many years younger than he, and they were divorced after she had won the admiration of Europe by her beau.ty. A "De La Mar made his fortune In Western West-ern mines. He has lived In Paris for several years and directed from there the work of erecting and furnishing the mansion which he now bar ordered cold. It was believed when he had the house furnished he anticipated a reconciliation with the divorced wife." |
