The Commercial club of Hint city has Joined hands with the Elks there to make the reunion of the bucks, their wives and children, the greatest affair of Its kind oyer held in this section of the West. Money Is not to be spared when It comes to offering amusements for the visitors A committee of representative citizens of that city visited Salt Lake City yesterday yes-terday for tho purpose of Hccurlng the co-opcrallon of tho local Elks. The Provo lodge was represented by Attorney D. D. Houtz, who is the exalted ruler of that lodge. No. SI9; Trustee C. O. Newell and R. A. Barney, tho well known mining man, who represented the Commercial club They said that no stone Is to bo left unturned to give the visitors a "white and purple ' time, which means the best tho Elks can afford. The railroads have promised special rates for the occasion. Elks from neighboring neigh-boring States are expected to be present to partukc of the hospitality of Provo. which will Include dinners on the lake front, in the canyons and elsewhere Thern will ho street parades, prizes for the best appearing lodge In the fraternal parade, and others for the Elks' parade There will be sports covering the entire athletic Held, and contests In Provo and cities where there are Elks lodges relntlve to the most popular young women to act as maids of honor for tho queen of the convention. |
