| Show I FUNERAL OF BISHOP KfSlfR IMPRESSIVE CEREMONIES CONDUCTED CON-DUCTED YESTERDAY Eloquent Tributes Paid to the Dead Mans Life and Character By Those Who Knew Him The funeral services over the remains re-mains of Bishop Kesler were held In 1 the Sixteenth ward meeting house yesterday yes-terday afternoon The building was packed to Its utmost capacity Thit stand was draped in white and just In 1 front of the choir was a long table on which were placed the beautiful llora offerings of ielaties and friends The services were conducted by William Wil-liam Langton second counselor to the deceased The opening prayer was offered of-fered by George B Wallace Th choir then sang Oh My Father President Joseph F Smith was the first to address the audience He spoke very warmly of the deceased de-ceased I thank God for a man like Bishop Kesler he said He has gone to a peaceful rest to join his friend on the other side of the vali and let me say to his sons and daughters follow fol-low the example of jour father in his integrity to God and you will be saved in Gods kingdomwith him President Angus M Cannon was proud to say he had known Bishop Kesler for he knew him to be faithful honest and upright I dont know or any bishop who was more dutiful and i mote faithful than was Bishop Kesler Mr Cannon went on He was indeed a father to his ward and a friend of God and of man President Joseph E Taylor could see in tH large attendance at the funeral of Bishop Kesler an eloquent expression expres-sion of the love and esteem in which the bishop was held President Taylor spoke of the integrity of the deceased and related many circumstances in which i was manifested he would not yield to what he thought was wrong The deceased was prepared to die and he sank into his linal sleep as cheerful as only one can who has I lived as Bishop Kesler lived Bishop Burton spoke a short time of the sterling qualities of the deceased and his devotion to duty George Emerj lirst counselor of Bishop Kesler had learned to love the leJ t nlelngUg deceased more than he could express I have been his counselor for many years he added and a purerminded man I never knew He was a man of God highminded and intelligent He never shirked a duty The closing hymn Nearer My God to Thee was sung bj the choir in avery a-very impressive manner The closing prayer was offered bj Apostle George Teasdale The remains were viewed at the residence before the services there for the casket was not opened at the meeting house A long cortege of vehicles ve-hicles followed the remains to the City cemetery where they were interred in the family lot |
