Show Commander Retires HILL AFB Gen. Bryce Poe II, one of the best-known commanders to serve at Hill Air Force Base, will retire July 30. GEN. POE, commander of the Air Force Logistics Command, Com-mand, headquartered at Hill AFB, has served in this post since February 1978. Previously, back in 1973-74, Gen. Poe was commander of the Ogden Air Materiel Area, which later became the Ogden Air Logistics Command. HE WILL be succeeded bv Lt. Gen. James P. Mullins, a former commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Command Com-mand who is presently serving as commander of the Strategic Air Command's 15th Air Force at March Air Force Base, Calif. Prior to his last assignment. Gen. Poe served as first commander com-mander of the Air Force Acquisition Ac-quisition Division at Wright-Patterson Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He has also served as vice commander com-mander of United States Air Forces in Europe. GEN, POE was one of the Air Force's first jet fighter pilots and during the Vietnam War he flew 213 combat missions mis-sions 200 of them in an RF-4C RF-4C Phantom jet. As a member of the first jet-equipped jet-equipped units in the Air Force, he performed in more than 80 air shows to demonstrate demons-trate the new jet aircraft. HE HAS NOT announced his post-retirement plans. |
