Gymnastics World, 595 W. 1st N.. Bountiful, is the most complete private club facility in the state of Utah. The philosophy is to share the wonderful world of gymnastics gymnas-tics with the people of Utah. This is recreational gymnastics gymnas-tics at its best, and emphasis is place on safety and sound fundamentals fun-damentals with fun underscoring underscor-ing all teaching. The competi-vie competi-vie side of the sport is also offered to those who desire it. THE GYMNASTICS World staff is composed of current and former gymnasts who are sleeted for their maturity, expertise, ex-pertise, and desire to teach. Diane Dunbar, an assistant coach with the University of Utah National Gymnastics Team from 1979-81 . is working with girls' general classes and competitive teams during the summer. She was a member of the U.S.A. National Gymnastics Gymnas-tics Team from 1973-77. During Dur-ing this time she was a member of the teams that toured Bulgaria. Bul-garia. Mexico City and China. SHE WAS a member of the U. of U. team from 1977-79 when she chose to retire from competition and concentrate on coaching. Diane specializes on beam and floor and routine composition. composi-tion. LISA JOHNSON has a lifetime life-time background of dance and ballet. She works with the competitive teams. She attended USU and studied and performed dance as well as being a member of the Aggiet-tes. Aggiet-tes. Lisa's specialty at Gyn-mastics Gyn-mastics World is in dance and floor routine composition. She also has dancergetics classes. Blake Starr has come to Gymnastics World from New Mexico. He has been teaching and coaching over ten years. He attended the University of New Mexico where he majored ma-jored in paramedical science and physical education. HE HAS coached several New Mexico gymnasts to state championships. He is a rated judge and member of the USGF. Blake works with general gen-eral classes as well as teams; working especially on beam, bars, vault and tumbling. Blake is also a semi-professional semi-professional magician with nine years performing experience. experi-ence. Mike Dennison is head coach and owner of Gymnastics Gymnas-tics World. A 1969 honors graduate gra-duate from the U. of U., Mike competed in trampoline, gymnastics, gym-nastics, wrestling, and diving for the Utes. After graduating, he worked for Amateur Athletic Athle-tic Union in Indiana. RETURNING TO Utah. Mike coached the TAGS Gymnastics Gym-nastics Club to five consecu-. consecu-. tive state gymnastics championships cham-pionships and six state tumbling tumb-ling championships. In 1980 the newly formed Saltos Gymnastics Gym-nastics team won the Class II state gymnastics championship. champion-ship. Mike also led the team to the 1980 national tumbling championships. In 1981, various team and individual in-dividual awards have been won by the Saltos at Class III, II, and I meets; including the Saltos Class II Invitational Championship and the Class I State All-around Junior Champion. Cham-pion. Mike coached at the U. of U. when the team became second in the AlAW Nationals in 1 980 and first in the nation in 1981. |
