This certificate is a nationally accepted standard showing evidence of a teacher's excellence. Conventions Conven-tions are held annually on both a state and national level. EACH SPRING UMTA and the local chapter sponsor student stu-dent achievement for the students stu-dents of member teachers. Students are given the opportunity oppor-tunity to demonstrate their skills in performance, theory, technique, sight reading, and music appreciation. There are recitals and competitions for students to enter. Membership is open to any music teacher interested in improving im-proving teaching skills, ex- The Davis County Chapter of the Utah Music Teachers' Association is preparing for its new season which begins this fall. Newly appointed officers are Marian Rees, president; Beverly Nelson, vice president; pres-ident; Merla Little, secretary; Elaine Holbrook, student achievement chairman; and DeAnne Walker, program chairman. THIS UTAH association is part of the Music Teachers' National Association which is one of the oldest musical organizations orga-nizations in our country.
