Show Bountiful To Consider New Zoning Ordinance The final draft of the new Bountiful city zoning ordinance ordi-nance will be discussed at a public meeting in the city council chambers on July 8 at 7:30 p.m. THE NEW ordinance, which has been on the drawing board since 1978, will more efficiently deal with neighborhood neighbor-hood zoning problems. City Planning Director Jon R. Booth explained that the traditional tradi-tional zoning policies of Bountiful Boun-tiful have been both inefficient and cumbersome when coping with the changes of land use management that affect developing de-veloping cities. He mentioned that Sandy city is looking at a similar rezoning ordinance to handle their changing needs. Bountiful's ordinance however, takes the II traditionally tradi-tionally zoned neighborhoods and divides each of them up into smaller districts. By doing this, specific land uses have been adjusted to respond to the particular characteristic of each district. In essence, the planning committee has created cre-ated smaller more specified neighborhoods. The new ordinance ordi-nance should prove beneficial for future planning of residential residen-tial districts. MANY OF Bountiful's residents resi-dents should already be familiar famil-iar with the new ordinance as the planning committee conducted con-ducted public meetings in each of the II neighborhoods affected between April and September IVM). Wednesday's Wednes-day's meeting will publicly review re-view the final draft before the planning committee officially votes on it. |
