Show : I; JAZZY : The Utah State University Jazz Ensemble presented a : concert on Jan. 2S in the Chase Fine Arts Concert HdM. : MKMBF.RS OF the ensem- ; ble from Bountiful who per- f timed were Doug Vandegrifl ; and John Jensen. THE PROGRAM included a new arrangement of "Look for the Silver Lining" by Jerome Kern, "Chameleon" by Herbie Hancock as recorded by the Maynard Ferguson Band, a hillbilly jazz number entitled "Country Toad," "La Fiesta" by Chick Corea, and "Chickenscratch" by Les Hooper. "The USU Jazz Ensemble was formerly called the Scotsmen. The group was started in and has been playing the best in contemporary contem-porary music since that time," says Smith. |
