A friendship that has lasted through Woods Cross High -jnd continues through the jitiffest of competition as Kteve Eiting and Steve pearce, captains of their kichool's swim team, face the Jinal weeks of their high J ichool swimming careers. 1 THE STORY of the two iteves begins at Woods Cross ligh School, as the two were nemhers of the Wildcats wim squad under the oaching of Steve Tomlinson. it the conclusion of their ophomore year the two eceived identical recognition s "Swimmer of the Year" at lat school, i V.I As has been the pattern at . Steve Pearce went his yPay to Viewmont and was 9 losen captain of the Vikings uad under Coach Fred Iurd. THE boundaries did not vide the young men's " lendship. Eiting states the path Ctween the Pearce home and Te Eitings has shown greater ;ar during the past two two young men are i lecialists in their fields. iptain Pearce has shown g, -eat strength in 100 yard itterfly, while Captain Eit-g Eit-g is a freestyle specialist. ft Kl BOUNTIFUL won the city championships again this year and is looking forward to regionals, which will be held at Weber State College on Feb. 5. Viewmont holds high hopes for placement of their squad in the state swimming meet to be held Feb. 14 at the University of Utah Nata-torium. Nata-torium. Bountiful and Viewmont will compete in Region Two competition on the 5th, with the top three swimmers in each event placing in the state meet. For most swimmers, this concludes their competitive competi-tive swimming if they are seniors. FOR OTHERS, it opens the door for college competiaon. Bountiful and Viewmont squads have had their fair share of representation in university swimming programs. As for the two Steves, swimming has been a great bond for friendship and competition, and both are looking forward to the up and coming region and state events. STEVE Eiting is the son of Norman and Dorthea Eiting. He has five younger brothers who are emerging into the swimming world. Their family resides at 297 E. 2200 South in Bountiful.
