Show Garn nominates For Hilary Academies U.S. Senator Jake Garn (R-Ut) (R-Ut) has nominated 49 Utahns, including five women, to United Sta;es Army, Navy and Air Force Academies. "I AM impressed with the quality of young people who applied for appointments," Senator Garn said. "I have always advocated a strong, competent military and the Service Academies are the backbone of the officer corps. It pleases me to be able to recommend such high caliber people for admission to the Academies." SENATOR Garn nominated 20 young people to the Air Force Academy, 17 to Annapolis An-napolis and 12 to West Point. Appointments will be made oy the Academies after evaluation of each nominee's academic achievement, physical capability and participation par-ticipation in extra-curricular activities. Those from Davis County are: Jared A. Astin, Bountiful; Boun-tiful; Michael V. Beheshti, Bountiful; Scott W. Carrothers, Kaysville; Stewart R. Kirkpatrick, Farmington; and George Clayton Rackham, Bountiful. They were nominated for the Air Force Academy. THOSE nominated for Annapolis An-napolis were Kurt C. Gramoll, Bountiful; Michael R. Leseberg, Sunset; Richard Brian McNabb, Hill Air Force Base; and Carlos Al Miller, Layton. |
