These members of the Bountiful Shark's Speed swim team, work one to two hours, five days each week, keeping jhysically fit and enjoying success at swim meets. The 'roup is coached by Vern Tones and assisted by Donna Mien. THE AAU Aquatic speed ' earn is slowing gaining new nembers in Bountiful. They lave participated in various neets throughout the valley, ind are placing well in in-iividual in-iividual events. Kearns sponsored a tremendous meet during the holidays which drew swimmers from all parts of the western states. Our swimmers placed as follows: "A" DIVISION: girls 10 and under 200 yard freestyle. Dale Ann Fisher, 1st; Boys 11-12 freestyle, Jon Lee, 4th. Girls 9-10 50 yard breasts-troke, breasts-troke, Dale Ann Fisher, 3rd. Girls 11-12, Cheryl Rosengreen, 5th. Girls 9-10 backstroke, Dale Ann Fisher, 3rd; girls 11-12 100 yard backstroke, Cheryl Rosengreen, 6th. Girls 11-12 50 freestyle, Irene Calder, 6th. Boys 11-12, 50 free, Jon Lee, 3rd. GIRLS 9-10 50 butterfly, Dale Ann Fisher, 3rd; Boys 9-10 50 fly, Peter Wetterhall, 3rd; girls 9-10 100 yard free- Members of the Bountiful Sharks are still gaining swim honors. Girls 9-10 individual medley, Dale Ann Fisher, 2nd; girls 11-12, Cheryl Rosengreen. 6th. In the Kearns "B" Division, Mike Hancey placed 6th in boys 9-10 50 freestyle. Irene Calder achieved "B" times in girls 11-12 200 yard individual medley. Mike Hancey placed 6th in 100 yard backstroke while Irene Calder placed 2nd in 100 backstroke and received "B" times in the 100 breaststroke. THE NEXT prestigious meet was Intermountain Junior Olympics held Jan. 9-10 at Cottonwood High School. In the boys 9-10 division, Wayne Wehrli placed 6th in 100 yard individual in-dividual medley, 7th in 50 backstroke and 11th in 50 freestyle. For the girls 9-10 division Dale Ann Fisher received three first place trophies. She took top honors in 100 yard individual medley, 100 yard freestyle and 50 yard butterfly. but-terfly. ALSO IN 9-10 boys division, Peter Wetterhall placed 3rd in 50 butterfly, 9th in 50 freestyle and 6th in 100 freestyle. free-style. For his three events, Jon Lee placed 1st in boys 11-12 500 yard freestyle; 1st in 200 yard freestyle and 2nd for 100 freestyle. IN THE 13-18 age groups, Irene Calder placed 10th in the 200 yard individual medley, while Charles Fisher placed 4th and his brother Evan, placed 5th in the 200 yard I.M. On Jan. 24, beginners traveled to Granger to establish es-tablish National "B" times. Enthusiasm was high as the local team took many ribbons and four "B" medals.
