Show P?Jiony Soloist GliongGfi Maurice Abravanel, musical director and conductor conduc-tor of the Utah Symphony, has announced a change in the soloist for the orchestra's subscription concert on Friday, Feb. 20 at 8 p.m. in the Salt Lake Tabernacle which is co-sponsored by the University of Utah Music Department. SALLY Peterson will replace Gladys Gladstone as piano soloist for the February program that will include two world premiers: Vladimir Ussachevsky's Colloque for Symphony Orchestra, Electronic Elec-tronic Tape and Various Chairs, and Ramiro Cortes' Piano Concerto. Major work of the evening will be the third local performance perfor-mance of Leroy Robertson's prize-winning Trilogy. SINCE Miss Gladstone was ill during the month of December, she was unsure of being able to complete, to her satisfaction, the preparation of Mr. Cortes' Piano Concerto. Concer-to. Mr. Abravanel and Mr. Cortes graciously acceded to her request that another soloist be named. NATIVE bom piano soloist Sally Peterson made her debut at the age of eleven with Maurice Abravanel and the Utah Symphony Orchestra Orches-tra and since then, has performed per-formed with them on numerous occasions. The winner of the 1972 National Na-tional Young Artists Competition Compe-tition and the Stillman-Kelly ' Music Competition, Miss Peterson Pe-terson has performed with orchestras in Texas and on the west coast. She has also performed recitals under the |
