Al-vin Al-vin Gittins, professor of art at the University of Utah and noted portrait painter, will be the speaker to league members and guests at the Davis Complex, 197 East Fifth South, Thursday, Dec. 29 at 12:30 p.m. Guests are welcome wel-come at this event, but anyone wishing to attend must make reservations by Tuesday, Dec. 27 by calling the art center, 581-8820. A DISPLAY of some of Mr. Gittins works will be shown and after his lecture, a film, "Alvin Gittins, Realist" by ;;,ra-! Special feature of the December luncheon of the Bountiful Art 1 League will be a film on Alvin Gittins, along with some of his paint- V ings. Claudio Sizemore, right, will present the lecture. Dr. William Stringham, left, helps display one of Mr. Gittins' paintings. ' Claudia Sizemore, will be presented. Mr. Gitten's career has taken him to many parts of the world. He has painted Haile Selassie in Etheopia. WHILE ON assignment for the U. in New York, he painted paint-ed Arlene Francis, many local politicians such as Governor Rampton and Govenor Matheson, as well as Senator Garn have had portraits por-traits done by him. Many church leaders, including Pres. David 0. McKay, have been his subjects. People associated as-sociated with the U. and the cultural community, such as Maurice Abravanel, have been painted by him. Beginning January 22, an exhibit of Gittin's work will be on display simultaneously at the Bountiful Art Center and the Davis County libraries in Bountiful and Clearfield.
