Show Best get-well wishes to the Gerald Stouts. They have had a week of trying to get better. One of the outstanding events of the past week was that of the stake quarterly conference held last weekend. The 12th and 22nd Wards choirs combined to sing very well. Especially beautiful was the singing of "I Wonder When He Comes Again." Ariel Miller and Dave Davis, as well as other assistants did their usual good job on the lights and sound. Pres. Clarence Samuelson talked of the need for prayer, to take good council, to work for discernment of good and bad, and to avoid the gimicks of Satan. Brandt Child was accepted as an alternate high councilman. council-man. Idell Samuelson, wife of President Samuelson, said she is happy to be a wife and mother, "just a housewife." She continued that husbands and wives must be supportive of each other and of their children. Pres. Melvin Owens warned against apathy and mediocrity. Pres. Ralph 01-sen 01-sen talked of achieving excellence ex-cellence and assisting others to do the same. Leland Burnham, brother of Arvella Henrie, former resident of the Bountiful area and now of Salt Lake City, visited with his sister. At the same time, he was adding to the creativity of the community, com-munity, as he tuned pianos. The parents of the Second Ward Primary are reminded that they are invited to attend Primary next Tuesday, Dec. 20, to view the special Christmas Christ-mas program. They should be in their places at 3: 15 p.m. The Third and Fourth Wards are talking of having their Sacrament Meetings in the morning of Christmas Day. Watch for further announcements. an-nouncements. The youth of the Fourth Ward have been very busy during the past week. Tuesday Tues-day night they had a hayride through the town. They have been planning a Christmas Extravaganza, and they have been planning to work as Sub for Santa. Leona Edmonds has been busy in her work as Stake Primary Secretary and helping help-ing to cater for several weddings. wed-dings. Roann Parkinson and husband hus-band are much more able to think of the true meaning of Christmas, since their first child, a boy, was born this week. Grandparents, the Floyd Williams, are also happy to have the event so near to Christmas day. The First Ward Relief Society, under the direction of Pres. Jean Curtis, enjoyed their combined homemaking day and Christmas party Monday. The highlight of the day was the donating of gifts for the nursery. The members of the First Ward choir have been working many extra hours for their Christmas Program to be presented in the Christmas Day Sacrament meeting, at the regular hour fl: 15 p.m.). Leader Harriet Stephens and accompanist Helen Layton believe it is all worth it, as they help to worship the Christ Child. The Arch Widdisons visited with their friends, former West Bountifulites, Tom and Maurine Mowers and family in South Willard. They are looking forward to having their son Monte home for Christmas, after all of his basketball fun at the College of Southern Utah. Another great event in the pre-Christmas season for the Widdisons was attending the party of Arch's family. They congregated at the home of Milton Widdison in Salt Lake City, where they enjoyed each other and light refreshments. Among the guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Barrett Haws, Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Draper, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Aarve, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dawson, Mr. and Mrs. Augustus Vaughn, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Widdison, the Arch Widdisons and the Don Widdisons. |
