Show WiEiiw Wsots mi By SUE TRENCH Extra! Extra! Get ready for the "Main Event"! What? Barbara Streisand at VHS? No, it's the first game of the Viking basketball season this Friday. That's right, the Viewmont team will "Wiz" into action against the "semi-tough" Brighton players leaving a "silver streak" in their paths. THE RED and Gold will release their "fury" as they show the Bengals they've taken "A Bridge Too Far" and they're headed for "The Deep" in this attempt to defeat "The One and the Only." As the outlook for a Brighton Brigh-ton victory gets "Rocky", they will predictably attempt "Foul Play" as a last resort. However, this will only bring about "The Turning Point" in the game as the Viking shots continue "Coming Home" to widen thejr lead and leave, the Bengals wondering "What's Up Doc?" And of course in "The End", emerging as the "Heroes", VHS will bring a close to Brighton's "Dog Day Afternoon and send them home thinking "Thank Gosh it's Friday!" THE ACTION begins at 7:30 at Brighton High School and because our Vunderful Viking team scores a big "10" on ability, they are largely lar-gely favored to easily win the event. VHS is also scheduled to down Bonneville on Tuesday, Tues-day, Oct. 27, beginning at 7:30. Another Viking group, the Water Polo team, is also pretty hot stuff. With a season win loss record of 4-4, they've dove right in and emerged with a record of determination de-termination that leaves the other schools high and dry. Members of the team include: David Allord, Kevin Ball, Greg Evans. Gordon Fairbanks, Evan Fisher -captain, Ed Goble, Greg Hadley, Kevin Hansen, Gordon Gor-don Little, Walter Mai, John Openshaw. ALSO, DOUG Ostergaard, Doug Perry, David Williams, Robert Yancey, Ken Hawks, Dave Park, Lawrence Knight, Brad Dangerfield, Scott Dalrymple, Don Sorrenson, James Lunt and Todd Alford. There is another group that has dove right in this year to work hard for VHS and, as Viewmont Vikings, I'm sure you've noticed through the improved atmosphere at assemblies, as-semblies, these students as they monitor them and many other school activities to insure in-sure order at the events. IN CASE you don't already know, they are members of the Interact Club. Their primary responsibility is to usher at such activities, however, they also serve Viewmont in several other ways. They have risen to the occasion, oc-casion, many times already this year by directing their efforts towards such projects as organizing the painting of the "V" on the mountain and painting the post in the parking lot red and gold. THEY ALSO have accepted the upcoming task of painting the bleachers overlooking the baseball diamond. Craig Young, this year's president, has been very effective in initiating much of their success, suc-cess, along with other Interact officers: Steve Green, vice president; Brad Leavitt, treasurer; Brian Skidmore, secretary and Mike Barnett, publicity manager. |
