Show League To Study Resource Teams The structure, purpose and functions of Davis School District resource teams will be the subject of the next meeting of the League of Women Voters of South Davis County, Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 9:30 a.m. Discussion will include the kinds of help and counseling available to pote-tial pote-tial drop-outs, regular students, and students with special needs. EXPLAINING the program to league members will be a group of experts involved in the resource team effort. Speakers include resource coordinators Milt Shaum, coordinator of social workers and coordinator of counseling for students who can't function func-tion in a regular classroom setting; Michael Shaw, coordinator coor-dinator of psychologists; Dale Sheld, coordinator of communicative com-municative disorder specialists, and Dr. Mary Ann Williams, coordinator of special education. The education emphasis will be continued Dec. 5 during dur-ing the League's Wednesday evening meeting at 7:45. The new State Board of Education requirement for each student's "individual program" will be the topic. SUE NARRIN, State PTA Education Commissioner, will present the "career cluster" plan that the Davis County School District will begin implementing in January for 7th and 8th grade students. Eventually, all secondary students and their parents will be involved. The state board is requiring a yearly meeting of the student, his parents, and school personnel for the purpose of planning the student's educational program, guided by individual in-dividual needs and career goals. THE PUBLIC is invited and encouraged to attend all League of Women Voters meetings. They are held at the Bountiful Community Church. Baby sitting is available at the morning meeting. |
