BUS SPEECH WINNERS Bountiful High School speech and debale students haw returned victorious from two coxpetitions in the last two weeks. At the Portia Douglas Speech Tournament held Nov. 10 at Ogden High School, Bountiful won the sweepstakes award ahead of the other fourteen competitors. competi-tors. Bountiful received 251 points which the closest other school was Ogden with 197. At the Mountainlands Novice Debate Tournament held at Provo High School on Nov. 3, Bountiful received more awards for outstanding debating than any other school. AMONG THE winners at the Portia Douglas Tournament Tour-nament were: Rulon McKay, 1st place, dramatic reading; Glenda Fluckinger, 2nd place, dramatic reading; Ken Lawrence, 1st place, novice legislative forum; Joel LaSalle, best chairman, in Winning speech honors at Bountiful High are, front, 1 to r, back, Julie Busk, David Gould, Ken Lawrence, Wendy Webster, Brent Jacox, Jeanne Turner, Virva Jones. Other finalists included Ellen Bailey, Robyn Thornell, Sharon Eubank, Wayne Welch, Don Barnett. Semi-finalists at the same tournament included: Jan Elg, Jill Hibbert, Carla Crowther, Mark Hunsaker, Douglas Meredith, Melinda Cole, Tim Johnson, Chris Hoagiand, Bryant Stokes, Jay Verkler, Craig Tingey, and Greg Harrison. AT THE Provo novice debate tournament, two Bountiful teams received first place trophies: Sharon Eubank and Jay Verkler, and Virva Jones and Jeanne Turner. Robyn Thornell was awarded the third place speaker in the tournament while Janice Shaw was eighth. Second place debate teams included: Debbie Giles, Ceci Swenson, Wendy Webster, Brent Jacox, Julie Busk, Cindy Clayton, David Gould, Jimmy Garrett, Robyn Thornell and Mary Robertson. Kim R.
