Christmas weddings, suffused in the glow of happiness that holds 1 the whole world in its enchantment, impart a flavor of gladness all their own to the festivities of the season. sea-son. Last night Miss Marian Doe, . daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles YV. Doe, became the wife of Ethel-bert Ethel-bert Shores of Salt Lake City, the ceremony taking place at tho Doe home on Laguna street in the presence pres-ence of tho relatives and a few family friends. The Rev. Frederick . W. Clampett read the ritual. Afterward After-ward there was a wedding supper and Mr. and Mrs. Shores left for southern California eu route to Salt Lake City to reside there. It was entirely a Christmas wedding, wed-ding, with all the- bright, glowing holiday colors used with artistic effect. ef-fect. The altar, which was coverod with gold brocade, was , adoruod with, quantities of poinsettias, American Beauty roses, English holly hol-ly and so on, with gilt candlesticks adding their rich color to the picture. pic-ture. Throughout the house the decorations were the same, only the crimson and greens of the season being used on the walls, festooning tho doors and windows, and the tablo was done in red roses. Tho bride wore a gown of bright silver cloth veiled with white tulle and silver lace, and the veil covered tho frock. It was caught up with sprays of orange blossoms and the bouquet was of gardenias and white orchids. Miss Marion Rengenburger, as maid of honor, also wore white tulle end silver, but less elaborately made than the bride's gown. Two tiny nieces, Laura Doc aud Aileen .Tohn-sod, .Tohn-sod, were the flower girls, two little rosebuds of femininity done up in bouffant pink tulle and pink ribbons rib-bons and carrying baskets of pink flowers. Mrs. Doe. mother of the bride, wore blue tulle trimmed with silver over lace. The bride belongs to a family that has long been identified in a splendid way with California's progress. Two of her grcatuucles were among the pioneer mining men who developed such great success that when they passed on they were able to leave a fortune to the University Uni-versity of California, and the handsome hand-some Doe library is a monument to their generous interest in the youth of California; as well as a return for what California was able to do for them. In many other ways the Doe family did much to enhance the progress of their adopted state, as the mining men of the state like to recall. The bride has been a belle in San Francisco for the past few seasons, very much admired for her graces of personality. She has been much entertained in the interval betwoen the engagement announcement and the wedding last night.
